SRSI Welcomes New Hire, Jim Nuckoles, WMS Specialist

August 17, 2022

SRSI is pleased to announce the newest addition to our System and Software Specialist team, Jim Nuckoles.

Jim grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. He comes from a very technical background- earning several certifications and associate degrees from Blue Ridge Technical College, Piedmont Technical College, and the Manhattan Super User Training School.

His material handling journey started at GE Fanuc Automation, where he worked for 10 years. Then in 2001, he was recruited to Target Distribution (Supply Chain). His role of controls/systems engineer helped Target start distribution centers, moving him from Virginia to Alabama. It kept him busy, moving from Alabama to South Carolina to open another distribution center in 2003. It was not until 2008 where Jim and his family settled in Portland, Tennessee to begin his role as Direct-to-Consumer WCS/WMS Manager for Macy’s. There, he was a lead manager for implementation and commissioning of WMS and WCS upgrades and enhancements across the Macy’s D2C network.

Jim’s desire to be involved in a support role became a perfect fit when our recruiter reached out to him about a spot in the Warehouse Management Systems team. He saw the role as “refreshing, with room to learn and grow at the company.”

He’s always been driven by developing himself and sees SRSI as a unique opportunity to further expand his knowledge. “During my time off between Macy’s and SRSI, I realized I enjoy being in the support role. I love seeing it come together, helping a customer, and watching them succeed,” Jim says. “The way SRSI does things is different; it’s refreshing and overall, a great company that cares about its people,” he adds.

In the short-term, he looks forward to learning as much as he can from fellow software specialists, Trevor and Dan. Jim sees himself growing within the company long-term and becoming most effective in the role as possible.

A favorite quote of his is, “Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing in the tempting place” by Benjamin Franklin.

Outside of the office, Jim is a huge car junkie. His favorite car was his ’79 Chevy Camaro that he used to drive back in the day. Speaking of back in the day, Jim threw competitive darts in leagues that took him to regional and national competitions. His claim to fame is throwing against the number four ranked darter in the country. Nowadays, Jim likes to kick back and enjoy math quizzes and landscaping his home. His drive for learning and helping others is inspiring, and we are so glad he is part of our team.
